Apparently the mantra "do not weed other people's plantings" should be repeated daily by a certain bunny-philic woman of my acquaintance. This will reduce the chances that the raptor-philic female writing this will want to claw her f~ck!ng eyes out, or rub her face in dirt, or, maybe break all the fingers on her hands with a five pound sledge hammer.
Okay. I feel better now.
(She owes my three healthy basil plants, by the way, that were healthily sheltering in the moist soil ensured by the jewel weed.) You would think that after A) the hollyhock fiasco ("I thought they were burdock") and B) climbing rose tragedy ("I though it was a volunteer blackcap"), and our subsequent conversations about not weeding where I'd planted, except to pull dandelions, that my basil was safe. I guess bunnies can't be trusted in a garden--even the human ones.
Silly surgeon
Feb. 1st, 2013 09:18 pmSurgeon (on January 20): Wear the compression bandage for 3 days. Keep the sterile bandage on for 4 days. Leave these little suture strips on until they fall off.
I bet he thought that would happen in January.

(no subject)
Jan. 8th, 2013 09:21 pmStoopid spoilery people are stoopid. Whether they're spoiling it for me or others is irrelevant. It is a particular kind of "Nah-nah" and is no less unattractive than the rich kid in school flaunting something they have,or the sibling ruining the Christmas present by telling what it is before the day. Just KNOCK IT OFF.

So, tree is up. The little one.
Angel has started coming into the living room, and in the last 5 days has knocked the untrimmed tree over twice. Consequently I needed to make sure that the ornaments I put on were mostly unbreakable. That meant most of the ornaments that most say "Christmas" to me are still in the boxes. And since it's such a small tree most of the fun Hallmark ornaments are too big. I'm blaming the above for my "Meh."
One the other hand, I did put this one on, since, being brass and silver, it's mostly safe.
It was a gift from dear friends, and carries memories of caroling, and singing for Midnight Mass, and a crowded living room full of laughter and food, friendship and love.
Hark! The herald angels sing.

I wonder if it's the bread, the chicken, or the mayo. Food is not supposed to hurt. :-(

In the immortal words of Donald Trump....

Two friends from high school dead. Check.
Two friends' fathers dead. Check.
One friend has iPhone stolen out of her hand and local metro PD add insult to injury. Check.
One of dearest friends falls down stairs, seriously injuring head, shoulder, and very badly ankle. Check.
Beloved friend's father is in hospital, another's mother is undergoing chemotherapy, and another's mother is drifting into the long twilight of Alzheimer's. Check.
1) 2011 is so fired!
2) Does anyone have GOOD news???

I'll call it a win
Dec. 1st, 2010 10:17 amWell, when I go out to Chez Dotts the diet is always...challenged. Lots of restaurant food, not much by way of meals scheduled other than dinner...not good. Between the restaurant fat and sodium, and the lack of fruit and veg....
I bring some healthy things. And try to watch portions, and follow the plan.
But I worry. So the fact that I only am up .8 lbs. from the last weigh in is probably a win.
But, on the downside, they've changed my WW. New system, new counts. *sigh* Given their track record (every re-do they've done has turned out to work better) I suppose I'll end up winning. Nonetheless, there's a bit too much change in my life right now--I really didn't need this on top of it all.
Whine--It's what's for dinner!

I really didn't need another name to add to the list of why I do the Walk for the Cure.
Crap.

On a day utterly full of fail, I came home to a mailbox full of win thanks to the incomparable moira_ramsay. As I am home alone I can show you only one, but they are soft, and warm, and brighten my day (in life the red is much more intense, towards the blue end of red rather than the orangy my poor iPhone displayed).
The "swag" which accompanied is, in and of itself, balm beyond measure on any day, but especially on one as wretched as this.
I am blessed. And, yet again, I blame wyz_azz. Thank you, truly.

Made it home safe from Pax. We hope the deer suffered damage as minor as the Subaru did. We probably will never know.
'Night all.
