Not so meh

So, the day was better. Made it to campus with time to spare, despite the road conditions. Had two decent classes (my EN 102 students made me very proud, tackling two difficult stories [Faulkner's "A Rose for Emily" and Eudora Welty's "Why I Live at the P.O."] with care and attention, largely without direction. Bravo!)
Stopped at Walmart and picked up some needed things, then home to pugs and kitties. The weather is foul, the pugs did not want to ... perform ... outside. We came in. The usually golden child made moves to very differently "golden" on a chair, so back out we went. "Oh. Okay. [heavy pug sigh] Fine. If you insist." Back in. Now cuddles.
I took mercy on Duchezz and had another piece of her birthday cake (cut in 12 recommended sections, 42 oz of carrot cake is still a lot of carrot cake per slice.) This is my second piece. The cake is now half gone. Happy bunny Duchezz. I can only handle that much sugar on a very limited basis. She's having two pieces today. I pity the fighters at practice tonight! ;-)
Once the rum-laced coffee is done, I'll see about real food, and maybe being productive. Hell, I may even dismantle the Christmas tree!
Edited to add: Three hours later the tree has been denuded. And ornaments packed and sorted to save time later. Now an NCIS new episode as a reward. Go me!!!

Date: 2011-02-09 01:01 am (UTC)We do, however, keep the winter/Christmas dishes (blue, polar bear) and the snowmen out and up until about March 1.
Hmmmm. I don't know that song--I'll have to see if we have it. I'm a "Blow the Cold Winter Away" girl, myself.

Date: 2011-02-09 01:09 am (UTC)Yeah, you do. :) Perhaps by some other name. Lots of folks besides SS have done it. I'd be amazed if you hadn't heard it somewhere. The famous little bit out of it is:
Now Christmas is past, Twelfth Night is the last
To the Old Year adieu, Great joy to the new
It's on the album "Please To See The King"
