Made it here without adventures. Had Sichuan for dinner last night. We went off and slayed Black Friday, out of the house by 5:45. There was much buying of clothing, some electronics (Duchezz and I are buying ourselves a PSP and DS as our big prezzies this year in lieu of the 360 we had budgeted for him)--not a secret: just torturing ourselves by having them in the house unopened until the gift-giving date.
We were home by 1, after lunching at Panera's.
German squire and family are due to arrive tonight, staying over until, perhaps, Sunday morning (yay--lots of Heidi time for moi!!!) And there may by Kai and Susanna and kidlets tomorrow. More yay!
I got a class load of tests graded, so am feeling productive.
Elisheva's father, who we've known for years, is here. He was wonderfully warm and gentle about our loss, as only someone who has lost their heart's beloved suddenly, in the prime of life, can be. Dear friends who have been graced with a life without knowing that devastation do help, in ways that are inexpressibly important, and unique. But those who know that sudden, blinding loss, can reach out in ways others can't. And it helps in those places that other kindnesses can't touch.
May I never have a friend who needs me to be that person for them, for their sake, not mine. And if, against all hope, there is, may I be for them what others have been for me.
We are truly thankful--for our family, for our friends, for the fact, that as has been said by another, "you are the people he believed you to be."
