Scaling the Great Wall of AEthelmearc
Jan. 24th, 2009 08:42 pmSo, after some pretty aggressive nudging from Duchezz, we went to the East Kingdom today for a few hours. EK Bardic Champs was in Concordia, and since the event was closer than Seven Deadlies will be this year, I could hardly complain it was "too far away."
Apparently my tolerance for SCA events in 2009 averages about 2 hrs. and 45 minutes. That's about what it was at AEthelmearc 12th Night, and what it was today. However, that's 2 hours and 45 minutes with friends, in an interesting environment.
We spent time with HRM Darius (huge, warm hugs), HRM
alethea_eastrid (brilliant smile, warm kindness), HRH Andreas (who was...amazing),
liamstliam ,
baronernst ,
janeelliot ,
harpduchess ,
vairavi ,
mistressbrid , eLeri, Emerson, Linnet (sp? Master Wulfgar's lady wife), and Euan. It was a good few hours, then we drove back to Utica.
We had dinner at Ninety Nine, which was good, as usual. Our waitress tonight was the wife of one of Morguhn's co-workers. She was kinder and more friendly than usual--I think in life she didn't approve, but there's a compassion that comes in the face of loss.
Now we are home. There is really bad television on, but I'm too tired to even motivate enough to put a DVD in. I think I'll spend some time with A Flame in Hali, and then to bed.
